I feel that any amount of alcohol, no matter how small should be avoided. We put so many toxins into our body through the foods we eat, the beverages we drink, second-hand smoke we breathe and the cleaning products we use in our households; alcohol shouldn't even be a consideration. It is a choice that we make for ourselves to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or eat that double quarter pounder, but the baby doesn't have a choice to say no. I am pregnant with my fourth child and while I am pregnant I abstain from smoking and drinking and when I do smoke or drink I do it away from my children (ie outside of the household). You are not only putting future and present children at risk, you are also setting the example to you children and other expecting mothers that this behavior is acceptable because nothing happened to your children. In summation, it is not acceptable to subject our children to these type of behaviors for they do not have the ability to abstain. Sometimes mother does not always know best.
